What is to be Saved?

Man is in the pursuit of many things in this life. He is on a mission to see his dreams come true. His desires however end up in this world and all that he pursues does not stay with him.

Is there a life after death?

The Bible clearly says that after the life on earth, one would have eternal life or eternal death. It’s heaven or hell.

Death entered the world because of sin. Sin separated man from God and his life. A righteous God who is also love did not wipe out the planet from the universe. He desires that all of His creation would be saved from the wrath that’s coming.

Salvation belongs to the Lord. He has life eternal and when we live according to His purposes, He grants us His salvation.

When we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died and rose again for our sins, we are saved that very instant.

Repentance

Jesus of Nazareth, born to the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit lived on the earth as the perfect Son of God. He did no sin. He knew no sin and in Him there was no sin.

He bore the sins of the world and became an atoning sacrifice as He was crucified at Golgotha.

 

Death could not hold Him. He rose again on the third day in accordance to the scriptures and lives forever more.

 

He has the keys of death and hades and He grants eternal life to anyone who comes to Him. When we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died and rose again for our sins, we are saved that very instant.

 

The Greek word for repentance is metanoia, which literally means “to think differently afterward,” that is, to change one’s mind after an encounter with Christ, resulting in a change of heart and behavior.

 

He seals us with the Holy Spirit and leads us by His word. We should make it our aim to grow up to salvation as we set our hearts to know more about the Lord and yield our lives to do His blessed will.

He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. (1 Peter 1:18-21)

 

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)

 

But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are de-stroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. (Hebrews 10:39)

 

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name un-der heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

Baptism

Once a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, there should be a public confession of the same. Everyone who believed on the Lord Jesus were baptized. Hence baptism is central to being a disciple of the Lord Jesus.

By the act of baptism one identifies and unites spir-itually with the life, death, burial and resur-rection of the Lord Jesus.

Baptism was preached first by John the Baptist. Our Lord Jesus fulfilled all righteousness by being baptized and modelling to us.

 

Baptism also was a sign of discipleship :

Our Lord Jesus in His Great Commission asked His disciples to go to the nations and teach them all what the Lord had taught them.

 

Reborn | Dead to Sin | Alive in Christ :

Once a person is baptized, He becomes a part of the body of Christ. He lives in the understanding of that spiritual reality that all are One in Christ Jesus.

A baptized be-liever counts himself dead to sin but alive to God and functions as a member in the body of Christ.

We see the importance and significance of baptism as heavens were opened and God the Father spoke about His beloved Son as the Holy Spirit descended on Him like a dove.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoev-er does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)

 

Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Romans 6:3-4)

 

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

 

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoic-ing. (Acts 8:36-39)

 

and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you al-so—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 3:21)
