Let not Satan tempt your marriage

"Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” (1 Corinthians 7:5)

God blessed Adam and Eve with a mandate to fill the earth and exert their control over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth. When man forgot the authority and responsibility given by God, they fell in sin. The serpent tempted Eve and deceived her into sin. We are prone to temptation in every way and the most dangerous of all is sexual temptation. Marriage is between a man and woman and their sexual lives also should be fruitful. St. Paul encouraged marital union and once a couple are married, they should be committed to one another till death separates them. They should not allow any other external influence in their sexual lives. They are in a covenant and submit to one another.

Healthy homes are created when husband and wife commit to one another through all situations of life. They ought to love one another, pray for one another and involve in the work of the One who united them. Satan is bent on destroying families. Satan was the one who deceived Eve and he is still around devouring lives and destroying families. St. Paul rightly identified that it's due to the lack of self control that many marriages are broken paving the way for adulterous, sexually immoral relationships to set in. We need to thwart the enemy’s attacks by building families where God is honoured and the couple are determined to take care of their emotional, physical, spiritual and sexual well being as prescribed by the word of God.
