God destroys the Wisdom of the Wise

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." (1 Cor 1:18)

The response to the gospel of Christ is the most important decision in a person's lifetime. As we travel to places and introduce about the love and grace of Christ, people give a mixed response. Some people accept the message wholeheartedly and we see the grace of God being revealed in their lives. Some others look and view it skeptically. This response is similar to the Athens experience of St. Paul. In Greece, Paul made an outstanding presentation of the gospel but many chose to disbelieve. St. Paul categorically states to the church at Corinth that the preaching of the Cross is foolishness to them that perish. The preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus changes us from inside out that we don't focus our energy on infighting and vain arguments. If the preaching of the Cross hasn't changed our thinking and lifestyle then we are not saved at all.

The Cross and its preaching is the power of God and when we appropriate to it by faith we are saved that very instant. By human wisdom, we will never be able to fathom the power of God. By our logic and wisdom, we will never be able to seek God. Man's wisdom always rises up against God and we see humanity destroyed by wisdom that comes from the earth. God destroys our wisdom by His acts and those who claim to be intelligent are brought to naught by the preaching of the Cross. True wisdom from above comes from God alone and one can see that in the response one has when the Cross of our Lord Jesus is preached.
