“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” (2 Corinthians 5:9)
Blind Bartimaeus sat by the road side of Jericho trying to earn a
living by begging. He heard that Jesus, the son of David was passing by.
A ray of hope hit his blind life. From the time he was born, he was not
able to see anything. He was just acquainted with sounds. He heard a
huge crowd passing by. He perceived and cried out loudly, “Jesus, son of
David have mercy on me.” The people asked him to keep quiet, but he
cried all the more loud. His faith and determination was totally
unstoppable. The Scripture says that Jesus restored Bartimaeus’ sight.
The world may rebuke you for your faith, but Jesus will call you and do
something personal and powerful in your life.
Mary of Bethany sat at the feet of Jesus. Her sister Martha was busy preparing food for Christ. She was all alone in the kitchen but Mary was too busy with the Lord. We often feel lonely, anxious and we look for someone who would help us out with the “cooking.” She complained to the Lord and the Lord said, “Martha! Only one thing is needed and Mary has done the right thing and no one shall take it away from her.” The time spent at the feet of Jesus is sure to contribute to something eternal. Remember, the world will always prevent you from something personal, beautiful and eternal to happen in your life. But the Lord will appreciate your stand for Him.
